16th September 2004 We are advised that the Health & Safety Executive view overcrowding and standing on trains as a customer care issue and not a significant additional safety risk. An interesting contrast with the FLA's view on standing at football
20th September 2004 We attend a West Ham Safety Group meeting and present our proposals to the club, Local Authority, FLA, police, fire & ambulance services. Only the FLA Inspector and one representative from Newham Council raise objections. The FLA Inspector says that we are asking for a reduction in safety standards, but we say that our proposals are safer than the current situation
21st September 2004 Reply from Portsmouth's Chief Executive says he has sympathy for our views, but that the club have to abide by information given to them by the Premier League
23rd September 2004 At their conference many Safety Officers support the representative from a Premier League club, who speaks out strongly saying that standing in seated areas is not unsafe
24th September 2004 Email from John de Quidt, FLA Chief Executive stating that he will consider our proposals
25th September 2004 Stand Up Sit Down take part in a discussion on Radio Five with the FLA Chief Executive. Response from listeners is firmly in our favour
26th September 2004 Email sent to FLA repeating our request for a meeting
